Tethys Probe — diagnostics for COSMIQ and COSMIQ+
A read-only Android utility: it reads the dive computer over Bluetooth and produces a text report that reveals the differences between generations and firmware versions.
Tethys Probe is a diagnostic Android app that only reads data from a dive computer and changes nothing in it. Its job is to reveal the differences between COSMIQ generations and firmware versions, so that the main Tethys app can be checked against devices the developer does not own.
How it works: you install the APK from the releases page on GitLab, grant the Bluetooth and location permissions (without them Android will not find the device), put the dive computer into sync mode and start the readout. If you like, you can also answer a few questions about what the device screen shows.
The report always contains the device's replies to commands in hexadecimal, the model, the firmware, the hardware version, the Android version and the screen readings entered by hand. Separate switches add the Bluetooth address, the device clock, dive records and the raw exchange frames. The report can be reviewed in full before it is sent and mailed to the developer.
The app writes nothing to the device, changes no settings and never goes online — everything it collects stays with you until you decide to share the report.
