Tethys — an Android app for COSMIQ+ dive computers

An independent app that gave COSMIQ and COSMIQ+ owners back their dive log sync and device settings after the Deepblu service shut down.

Tethys — an Android app for COSMIQ+ dive computers

When Deepblu shut down and its own app stopped working, COSMIQ and COSMIQ+ dive computers lost every connection to the phone: you could neither download the dive log nor change a setting. Tethys is an independent Android app built to give these devices their full function back.
The app connects to the computer over Bluetooth Low Energy, downloads dive logs and keeps them locally, maintains a personal logbook, lets you change device settings and exports data in the portable UDDF, CSV and JSON formats. An export can be shared with the standard Android tools — sent to your usual dive log service, for example. The development build already has gear profiles, certification cards and support for several dive computers.
The principle behind the project is dependable access to your own data with no cloud and no dependency on someone else's infrastructure. The exchange protocol of the COSMIQ+ is being recovered by reverse engineering, so the app has so far been verified on a COSMIQ+ Gen 4 with firmware 1.8; other generations and firmware versions need volunteer testers.
There is no public release yet: the build can connect, download logs and export data, but it needs checking on varied hardware. The project is not affiliated with Deepblu or with the manufacturer of the COSMIQ+.
